Yellow perch are fairly easy to catch in Lake St. Clair and are often caught while fishing for other species with which they share the same body of water.  The best time of the year is the fall where perch join together and form schools of fish that are plentiful oi Lake St. Clair.  Perch are also an important source of food for larger species, and therefore many fishing lures are designed to look like yellow perch.

Capt Tom of North Bay Charters likes to use live shinner minnows on spreader hooks. When the fishing is hot two fish at a time are common. In summer when fishing walleye and bass, many perch are caught and kept to create a nice dinner. Yellow perch are one of the finest flavored of all panfish , and this has led to inaccuracies with use of their name in the restaurant industry. The price tag for this product at the grocery store exceeds  $15 per pound.  Why not take the family, and / or a group of friends, business parnters and come on board North Bay Charters with Capt Tom and catch a dinner of Yellow perch.
